Dutch maritime branch organization NMT embraces OMDS initiative
‘Uniform digital product information helps to strengthen the competitive position of the maritime manufacturing industry’ (Arnold de Bruijn, Sector Manager NMT)
A few years ago, Royal Boskalis Westminster, Damen Shipyards Group, Royal IHC and Koninklijke Van Oord started an initiative to arrive at a uniform product data standard for specific maritime parts and articles. This resulted in the
One Maritime Data Standard, or
OMDS for short. The main objective here is to increase efficiency within the maritime supply chain and reduce failure costs as a result of incorrectly selected and ordered materials.
2BA as a strategic platform for OMDS
Following the example of the Dutch installation industry,
2BA has also been chosen by OMDS as the digital data platform where (product) supply and demand within the maritime manufacturing industry will increasingly find each other.
Supported by industry organization
Being the branch organization for this sector,
NMT (Netherlands Maritime Technology) now fully supports this initiative by OMDS and the role of 2BA in this. After all, the solution offered fits completely within NMT’s sector strategy with regard to digitization and chain collaboration and contributes to improving the international competitive position of the Dutch shipbuilding sector. In order to implement this sector strategy in concrete terms, NMT organizes several meetings in which all chain partners meet, inspire each other and joint initiatives can be launched. OMDS is invited to present their solution.
